Note:  Due to COVID, SDRMCA's traditional class format will be modified to EXAM ONLY.  By registering, you are acknowledging that masks will be required in addition to traditional PPE.  Please provide your own equipment to reduce contact or notify SDRMCA if you need a set to use prior to the event.

Please do not attend if you have a mild cold like symptoms, a fever, have been exposed to someone with COVID, or if you are waiting on your own COVID test.

The certification was designed by ACI to promote better understanding of the ASTM procedures related to testing and acceptance of plastic concrete. This understanding will provide more reliable and accurate test results for better measurement of concrete performance.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

A Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform and record the results of seven basic field tests on freshly mixed concrete: Upon successful completion of the program, participants will have an International Certification and better understanding of the following ASTM testing procedures:

ASTM C 1064: Temperature of Freshly Mixed Portland Cement Concrete

ASTM C 172: Sampling of Freshly Mixed Concrete

ASTM C 143: Slump of Hydraulic Cement Concrete

ASTM C 138: Unit Weight, Yield & Air Content (Gravametric) of Concrete

ASTM C 231: Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by Pressure Method

ASTM C 173: Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by Volumetric Method

ASTM C 31: Making & Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Field

Certification is valid for 5 years.

**Steel toe boots/shoes, gloves, mask and safety glasses required.

It is the intention of SDRMCA to assist all individuals interested in becoming ACI Certified, however, our space and schedules are limited.  If you need additional assistance finding a class to meet your needs, please contact SDRMCA or visit www.concrete.org to view additional course offerings.
